Full-time Faculty Positions

Full-time faculty positions will be posted on a per-opening basis. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Applicants will be evaluated at the college/school level for the position which they are submitting an application. Unless noted by a close date, positions will remain open until they are filled. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

Part-time Faculty Positions

DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part Time Faculty to teach courses in a variety of disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding. Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. The pool will remain in place until the closing date specified in the posting details; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must resubmit. All individuals in the pool will be notified by email when the posting is closed.

The DePaul University School of Music seeks a full-time jazz educator and performer to begin September 1, 2021. The school expects a teacher-scholar whose creative production, teaching, and community engagement focus on the culture, history, and artistic expression of the African Diaspora and who will serve as a mentor for our diverse student body. Preference for this position will be given to applicants who can contribute teaching, curriculum development, and creative work in the areas of Black Music performance.

The successful candidate will be an experienced professional artist and jazz educator with an international profile able to assist in teaching courses and ensembles in the Jazz Studies curriculum, which may include: jazz improvisation, jazz arranging and composition, jazz theory and ear training, jazz pedagogy, small and large jazz ensembles, and applied instruction on the candidate’s principle instrument. Applicants with additional experience in audio and recording technology and/or Latin jazz ensemble direction are particularly encouraged to apply. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with other music faculty members in performance or similar activities; take part in recruitment activities as necessary; and participate in the governance of the school. This position has the potential to be renewed.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must have completed a master’s degree in a related field (jazz performance, jazz composition, studio writing, etc.), though a doctorate (or commensurate professional/educational experience) is preferred. Candidates should also have a history of excellence as a performer and educator in jazz and commercial genres, a demonstrated commitment to underrepresented and underserved communities and the academic success of all students as well as a proven track record of recruiting and retaining music students.
