Job Summary:

Security Officers are responsible for maintaining the security of people, buildings, and their contents, and preventing break-ins and theft through guarding and surveillance. Security officers work in a range of environments and are expected to deal with a wide range of situations as they occur; ensuring that businesses, properties, and valuables are protected from harm. The role of a security officer will depend on the nature of the company or premises being secured.

Environmental Hazards:
There may be exposure tophysical danger, such as:
1. Dangerous criminalelements
2. Arrestsituations
3. Mentally derangedpersons
4. Trafficaccidents
5. Unruly crowds
6. Exposure to diseaseor hazardous materials during emergency responses
7. Various weather andhazardous conditions, which may be unpleasant.

Skills & Knowledge:
Responsibilities couldinvolve but are not limited to:
-Individually patrollinga given area
-Monitoring a buildingvia closed circuit television
-Managing door controlfor entertainment venues such as bars and night clubs
-Maintaining security atorganization locations, car parks, and events
-Travelling withvaluable goods in a specialist security vehicle
-Patrolling one orseveral premises
-Monitoring activityoutside and inside premises through observation and closed-circuit television
-Signing in visitors toa building
-Sorting post andchecking suspicious packages
-Performing checks onbuilding traffic (the people going in and out of a building)
-Recording anysuspicious activity and taking any necessary action
-Guarding valuables orcash (typically in a secure vehicle)
-Communicating relevantinformation to other security officers via walkie-talkies or othercommunication devices
-Giving directions andother information to visitors
-Getting to know fellowsecurity officers and other colleagues (building up relationships usually makesthe job a lot easier)
-Writing reports for thepolice or courts
-Conducting generalreception duties
-Creating anddistributing building access cards
-Managing the car park(if the premises have one)

Physical Requirements:
This position requires theability to lift and carry 75 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp,feel, talk, hear, see, and perform repetitive motions with or withoutreasonable accommodations. This position also may require walking and running upor down multiple flights of stairs, chasing a fleeing suspect a moderatedistance (up to ½ mile), detaining a suspect and maintaining custody, lifting or pulling an injured person to safety, operating a security vehicle inroutine and emergency situations, and standing and/or walking continuously fora regular eight-hour shift.

Position Qualifications:


-High School/GED

-Valid Oklahoma driver license

-Current Oklahoma CLEET License in: Phase 1 (Basic), Phase 2 (Officer) and Phase 4 (Firearms)
