Division of Student Affairs - Student Programming & EventsJob Description Serve as an advisor for programs associated with Campus Activities. Programs include, but are not limited to, Multicultural Programs (International Programming, Black Programming, Veterans Programming), special events, and Mizzou Spirit. This position supports management with hiring, training, progressive discipline and supervision of approximately 80 student employees. Additionally, this position will serve as an advisor to student leaders and aid in the development of leadership, event management, and other skills necessary to present programs and support the Campus Activities goal to complement the academic mission through educational, social and recreational experiences for students that encourage engagement, sense of belonging, and affiliation with MU. Essential Functions Assist students in the program planning process including: providing input into program budgeting, making arrangements for local lodging and transportation for visiting artists; arranging catering; and, making all other arrangements required by each specific event. Advise students on University policies and procedures as they relate to program planning. Act as University representative on the day of show at assigned events. Advise and support the Mizzou Spirit students; attend and facilitate discussion for executive board meetings, one-on-one meetings, and attend programs and events sponsored by Campus Activities. Programs and events occur multiple times a week throughout the semester including evenings and weekends. Attend or schedule advisors to attend Mizzou Football and Basketball games, assist with student section check in, crowd control and risk management at games. Advise and support Campus Activities’ programming students; attend executive board meetings; one-on-one meetings; and, assigned programs and events sponsored by Campus Activities. Advise students in developing business plans for events brought to campus. Maintain records of offers and contracts throughout the process. Maintain communication with University partners and work to build collaborative, successful programs between students, organizations, units and committees. Assist with the development and execution of programs including Welcome Week Programs, the Delta Gamma Lectureship, Midnight BBQ, Dean of Students Tailgates, Mizzoupalooza, Polar Plunge and other programs as assigned. Participate with the team to develop and monitor program budgets. Provide receipts and other documents to ensure timely processing of payment to vendors. Make sure students submit after action program evaluations and final event budgets immediately following program presentation. Work with students on developing sponsorship opportunities and work with vendors to fulfil sponsorship obligations. Assist with recruiting and performance efforts. Coordinate job postings and advertisements with Student Affairs HR office, screen applications, schedule qualified applicants for interview. Interview applicants; and, make hiring recommendations. Conduct student performance reviews. Develop regular communication with student leaders and employees to provide information on work schedules, training topics and dates; share information on available internships and jobs; and, inform students of department projects. Based on scheduled events, determine staffing needs; create and communicate student schedules; and track student hours worked. Work with Business Support Specialist II on biweekly payroll and in resolving issues with SA HR. Support program assessments to show levels of student engagement, sense of belonging and affiliation with MU. Work with Campus Activities team to make improvements to programs, or eliminate programs based upon available data.Salary
Salary Range: $13.27 - $16.82 an hour

A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is necessary.Preferred Qualifications Education, Business, Journalism, Sports Management or Hotel, Restaurant Management is preferred.Must possess a philosophy of student development and the ability to problem-solve.Be highly creative and possess energy and enthusiasm to elicit the support and participation of students.Have a positive and friendly disposition, possess flexibility, and good communication skillsHave the ability to take initiative and to work independently.Be available to work evenings and weekends and be a team player.Application Materials
