Organizational Unit Overview:

The Department of Kinesiology is one of six academic units in the College of Health and Human Performance offering seven degree programs: BS in Exercise Physiology, BS in Health Fitness Specialist, BS in Physical Education, BS in Sports Studies, MAEd in Physical Education, MS in Kinesiology and a PhD in Bioenergetics and Exercise Science, with near 1300 majors and over 35 full time faculty. Our internationally known faculty are collaborative, interdisciplinary, and successful in both extramural funded research and innovative teaching. They enthusiastically engage our students in and out of the classroom through interactive lectures, research collaboration, community service projects, as well as other activities. Our distinct research labs support our academic programs as well as provide opportunities for faculty and student research. Faculty and students conduct research in fields related to Exercise Physiology, Bioenergetics, Biomechanics and Motor Control, Adapted Physical Education, Sport and Exercise Psychology, Sport Management, Pedagogy, and Physical Activity Promotion.

Job Duties :

East Carolina University seeks to fill a nine-month fixed-term appointment in the Department of Kinesiology within the College of Health and Human Performance. The intended start date for the successful candidate is August 2021.

The successful candidate will coordinate and teach in the Lifetime Physical Activity and Fitness Program (LPAF) that is required for all ECU undergraduates. Expertise in coordinating a large-scale university level undergraduate physical activity program is desirable. The LPAF Program addresses concepts and practical instruction in physical activity and fitness for health. Position responsibilities include scheduling classes; coordinating course and program evaluation efforts; and assisting with hiring, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating graduate teaching assistants who teach in the program. Classroom, online and activity-based instruction is expected.

Contingent upon Availability of funds.

Minimum Education/Experience :

A master’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise and Sport Science, or related fields( such as but not limited to Adapted Physical Activity, Exercise & Sport Psychology, Human Performance, Movement Studies, Physical Education, Sports Management, and Sports Studies).

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

N/A

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

Expertise in coordinating a large scale university level physical activity program is desirable.
