Job Description

UMKC External Relations and Constituent Engagement is seeking an outstanding candidate for an Senior Office Support Assistant to primarily provide staff support to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of External Relations. This position will also provide day-to-day staff support to various constituent groups, including the UMKC Trustees, Trustee Scholars program, and local legislators. The division is a fast-paced, fun, team-oriented work environment that values customer service and flexibility.

Job Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Provide day-to-day staff support to the Assistant Vice Chancellor External Relations and various constituent groups, including the UMKC Trustees, Trustees’ Scholars, and local legislators.
  • Prepare draft correspondence for Assistant Vice Chancellor; maintain Trustee records, distribution lists, rosters.
  • Organize and assist with planning board meetings (handle reservations, create board packets, planning and coordination of services).
  • Attend, set-up, and type up minutes for Trustee Board and Executive Committee meetings.
  • Maintain the Assistant Vice Chancellor’s day-to-day calendar.
  • Schedule Trustee meetings as needed.
  • Prepare and organize mailings.
  • Work with managers and staff in unit for assistance as needed.
  • Assisting with biweekly and monthly timekeeping requests.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, punctuality, grammar and proofreading skills and the ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision to complete projects and tasks.

Must be Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Experience with various constituent groups and organizing events is a plus.

Full Time/Part Time

This is a full time, benefit eligible position. Hours M-F 8:00AM-5:00PM, occasional evening and/or weekends.

Salary

$15.29-$20.70/hr, commensurate with education and experience.
