Position Summary:
Job Summary
Reporting to the Vice President for Student Life & Dean of Students, the Director of Violence Prevention facilitates the implementation of the DOJ OVW grant and assists in all projects sponsored by the grant. The Director oversees the Violence Intervention Prevention Center (VIP Center) and acts as a liaison between internal university partners and external community partners in the efforts to educate the campus community on issues surrounding sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking prevention and response. The Director supervises a sexual assault advocate provided by Transitions of PA.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the coordinated community response team including both organizations external to the institution and relevant divisions of the institution. Meet regularly with internal and external partners to discuss ideas for new initiatives, improve existing practices, and make decisions about the discontinuation of unproductive measures.
  • Direct all VIP center initiatives including supervising student workers and managing the work of the sexual assault advocate provided by Transitions of PA.
  • Work closely with the director of FYE on existing educational programs about sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking, making recommendations for appropriate changes and additions. Assist in implementation and assessment of prevention and education programs for all incoming students.
  • Coordinate and evaluate campus wide prevention and education programs for all students around the issues of sexual misconduct, Title IX regulations, healthy relationships, and bystander intervention. Collaborate closely with the Title IX Coordinator, residence life, department of athletics, fraternity & sorority life, the counseling center, the health center, the department of public safety, student diversity & inclusion, the CARE team, and other campus partners on their educational efforts.
  • Collaborate with the community standards specialist and director of campus safety on training of campus law enforcement officers and campus disciplinary boards on issues surrounding sexual misconduct, ensuring that policies and procedures are consistent with best practices and appropriate federal regulations.
  • Manage organization details and the completion of appropriate reports for the DOJ OVW grant, working closely with the director of grants & foundation relations and the director of finance.

    Required Qualifications:
    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
    Detailed organizational skills and the ability to manage large-scale projects. Skilled at written and verbal communication and ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituencies.

    Bachelor degree required.

    1-3 years’ experience working with grant projects, Title IX, sexual misconduct, student support services, and/or related issues required.

    Physical Demand
    Normal office environment, plus ability to move about campus and travel to various locations off campus, including scheduled conferences each year. Position requires occasional evening and weekend hours.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Master degree in higher education, health administration or similar related field preferred.

    Experience working with a diverse population on a college campus strongly preferred.
