In this newly created position, the selected candidate will work closely with the Associate Dean for MSF Career Management and Strategic Initiatives to manage the portfolio of career services and programs offered to our students and alumni and continually improve and innovate our services to meet the changing demands of today's workforce.

The Associate Director of MSF Career Management is a key member of the MSF Career Center team responsible for advising students on their careers, developing and leading core career curriculum and programs, designing and implementing communications strategies to advertise resources and programs, and managing critical functions within the Career Center. They are a critical partner to new students in assessing career options, aligning resources to those options, and assisting students in the development and execution of a career development strategy.

Reporting to the Associate Dean for MSF Career Management & Strategic Initiatives, the Associate Director has duties that include but are not limited to:

Student Advising and Coaching
  • Advise, counsel, and coach students in the MSF Program on all areas of career readiness including career exploration, strategy development, networking and outreach, personal branding, job search execution, salary negotiation, and other associated career-related topics.
  • Work with a diverse student body comprised of individuals at the beginning of their careers, those just establishing themselves in their roles, middle managers, and senior financial professionals.
  • Integrate the use of career resources - for example, career assessments, purchased resources such as interview software, and industry information including Vault into the career advising process so that students take ownership of their career strategy and use resources to strength readiness for career engagement.

Leadership and Strategy
  • Serve as a thought partner to the Associate Dean in conceptualizing and deploying the strategy for MSF Career Services.
  • Manage one or more core programs or career curriculum areas such as the MSF Career Strategy Course, Job Search Programs, the MSF Summer Clinics, or destination events such as MSF in New York; and serve in each case, as the primary architect and liaison to other staff in developing and executing successful programs.
  • Assess trends in the field, share knowledge gained with other staff, and assist the Associate Dean in ensuring that MSF Career Management remains on the forefront of research and best practice.

Communications
  • Work directly with the Associate Dean to develop a comprehensive communications strategy for the Office, using online newsletter platforms and other communications tools to educate, inform, and prompt students to action; and coordinate with the Program Office and other key stakeholders within the MSF Program to ensure seamless communications to students.
  • Manage the MSF Career Services LinkedIn presence to build a community of alumni and current students, as well as smaller industry-based communications - that is, those focused on Investment Banking, Consulting, etc.

Programming and Career Curriculum
  • Own a portfolio of events, programs, and career curricula and manage all aspects of the development, revision, deployment, and assessment of these programs; and, on behalf of the Associate Dean, negotiate and manage logistics, and manage the engagement of students, external speakers, and other key internal and external stakeholders.
  • May manage a small group of student workers or volunteers who are instrumental in implementing programs, events, and career curriculum events.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Organizational Development, Higher Education, or a closely related field
  • 3+ years of experience advising students in a business school environment within a selective graduate program
  • Familiarity with career development theory and methods, especially as related to students and alumni within their first 5 years of work experience
  • Experience designing and implementing career curricula, programs, and resources for graduate students both virtually and in person
  • An understanding of career development theory for graduate students, the recruitment and job search process for students in specialized master's programs, and knowledge of current research and practice in engaging graduate students
  • Adept utilization and implementation of career development techniques and tools appropriate for each student's age, career stage, and career strategy
  • Familiarity with technology tools, resources, and systems in higher education student and career services to include career management systems such as Handshake, networking tools like Sidebar, and career assessments such as Career Leader
  • Experience working in data-driven decision-making environments and be well-versed in the design, deployment, and review of student assessment instruments to guide decision-making and program development
