Position Summary:

Incumbent is a strategic role critical to the delivery of secure, quality technical solutions for the UC Health Data Warehouse (UCHDW). This position is responsible for design/develop/iterate/operate/document the core security components that provide required security of the cloud environment supporting the UCHDW. This position is considered an expert level role requiring individual judgment and decision making. Demonstrated expert level experience with information security principles, cloud security, scripting, networking principles, Microsoft Azure, and the Azure security products is required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and/or combination of education and equivalent work experience
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to effectively work with key stakeholders to successfully understand and deliver desired outcomes
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with Azure/Cloud computing design, provisioning, tuning, and native cloud security tools, cloud management platforms
  • Expert demonstrated experience of Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB), Cloud Workload Protection Platform (CWPP), Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), and cloud web application firewalls (Azure WAF)
  • Strong knowledge of Azure identity access management and supporting security technologies (Azure AD B2B, Azure role-based access control, MFA, Management Groups, Policy) and applicable working knowledge of cloud security frameworks, standards, and best practices
  • Demonstrated experience of Azure Services (Advisor, Portal, Migrate, Monitor, Resource Health, Cost Management, Virtual Network, VPN Gateway, Storage Service Encryption, Key Vault, Security Center, Advanced Threat Protection, Service Trust Portal, DDos Protection Services, Sentinel, Import/Export, and other core Azure technologies.)
  • Knowledge of systems infrastructure with deep domain expertise in one or more areas: compute, networking, storage, high availability, cloud security, application performance
  • Ability to communicate new ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to rapidly acquire new knowledge and skills; strong analytical ability and data-driven mindset
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Azure Security Engineer Associate
  • Familiarity with container technologies like Docker, rkt, Swarm, Mesos, or Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
