JOB SUMMARY: Middle Georgia State University (MGA) is seeking a candidate for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of History (Public History; American History) in the Department of History in the School of Arts and Letters. This position involves teaching, scholarship, and service. Teaching responsibilities involves teaching a 4/4 course load, scholarship, student advisement, and service. Teaching responsibilities will include day and/or evening courses, online and/or hybrid courses, and video-conference classes. Travel among campuses (Cochran, Dublin, Macon, and Warner Robins) may be required. A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a doctorate degree (Ph.D.) or equivalent in History or related discipline for the tenure track line. A readiness to engage in academic and community service and teach at the collegiate level with a commitment to student engagement. Evidence of scholarly promise or achievement (for tenure-track line). Must be able to teach U.S. History survey courses (U.S. to 1865 and U.S. since 1865) and upper-level undergraduate courses in Public History, African-American History, and/or U.S. Gender History.


Professional experience in Public History, prior successful teaching experience, experience with online and/or hybrid delivery of instruction, and an interest in and experience to support development of graduate programming in Public History.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience.
