    Washington & Jefferson College is accepting applications for a Licensed Electrician. This position maintains and troubleshoots electrical and electronic systems and devices up to 480 volts.


      Installs and adds new circuits in different locations, both indoors and outdoorsTroubleshoots and repairs building power circuits.Troubleshoots and repairs motors, lighting, scoreboards, P.A. systems, appliances, fire alarm systems, emergency generator, and resistance heating.Troubleshoots and repair campus cabling systems for IT & Data.Performs record keeping for systems installed or maintained.Awareness of safe handling of hazardous materials.Maintain a safe and clean work enviromnent.Makes electrical/electronic repairs to custodial equipment, grounds equipment, and vehicles.Assists with event set up electrical and electronic equipment and ensures reliable operation at special events.Installs interior and exterior lighting, as requested by College when time allows for this work to be completed "in-house".Assemble and work from scaffolding. Must participate with overtime staff coverage, as needed, to address campus needs and will participate on the physical plant weekly "on-call" listing. Refusal to participate will be subject to disciplinary action.

      Additional job related duties as required by the supervisor.Removes snow and ice from College roads, parking lots, sidewalks and steps.Assist in loading and unloading trucks during major moves as required.May perform athletic and event set-ups and break down as required.Must use College owned vehicles to traverse campus to efficiently complete daily work tasks, includes the use of a bucket truck or JLG lift.

      Electrical license meeting the requirements similar or equal to the requirements of the City of Pittsburgh, PA or demonstration of membership with local IBEW union for minimally three years.Thorough knowledge of electrical theory and the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the electrical trade for the installation, maintenance, and repair or electrical apparatuses, equipment and systems, and a thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal codes and regulations pertaining to the electrical trade including the National Electric Code and any pertinent Pennsylvania state codes.Knowledge acceptable safety practices required. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to read schematics and blueprints. Valid PA driver's license Certified training for use of mechanical lifts to a height of 60'

      Lift up to 60 pounds Ability to push and pull Stand Walk up to 8 hours per day Climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolds Bend Stoop Kneel Able to use basic hand tools Work both indoors and outdoors Must be able to work at heights in excess of 20 feet. Work in confined spaces. Must be able to differentiate colors Working environment includes indoor work and outdoor work in a variety of weather/temperature conditions.
