The External Relations department of the Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks a Major Gifts Associate, who will report to the Regional Director of Development and who will work closely with the major gift team and across the GSB and University to ensure excellent customer relationships with our donors and alumni. We are about to enter a major, multi-year fundraising effort. The Major Gifts team is a key engine of our division’s overall development efforts.

In this role, you will provide general administrative support to three members of the Major Gifts team and will be responsible for a range of programmatic and administrative assignments within the major gifts team, many of which will be specifically related to the team’s central fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship goals. You will be a core part of our team’s efforts and will gain insights into all of our operations. Working occasional evening and weekend events may be required, in accordance with county health guidelines. Flexible hours may be considered.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide project and administrative support.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining systems.
  • Build a network of relevant contacts and stay informed on current university initiatives and activities.
  • Review and track funds and report on use of gifts, as assigned.
  • Facilitate preparations for key donor meetings and development officer travel, including developing itineraries and drafting briefings
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of events and donor cultivation, as needed.
  • Retrieve information about prospects and donors, update records, and generate reports using the university external relations database.
  • Track budget(s), and process reimbursements for department.
  • Assist in the design, publication and production of select fundraising or communications materials.
  • Bring and foster a commitment to promoting and supporting an environment of diversity and inclusion.
  • Be flexible to completing any other additional assigned duties.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree and one-year relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • An interest in working with a top-performing higher education fundraising team.
  • Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office and Google suites, including working proficiency with basic spreadsheet formulas and data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of database systems, such as Microsoft Access and Excel and Salesforce
  • Ability to work efficiently, juggle tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and achieve goals.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with a wide range of people.
  • Outstanding communication skills and exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Exercise discretion in working with highly confidential and sensitive information.
