Senior Software Analyst - Office of Information Technology

The University of Tennessee, Office of Information Technology Applications Group is seeking applicants for the position of Senior Software Analyst - Office of Information Technology. Market range MR14.

The Senior Software Analyst leads the technical design, modification, development, testing, and documentation related to the University operations in the use of Ellucian Banner (ERP) for higher education. The position will report to the OIT Manager, Student Information Systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement, upgrade, and support the University’s enterprise resource planning (Banner) application and other interfaces to Banner for the campus community
  • Provide training and assistance to users in the use of enterprise applications and custom developed solutions
  • Leads the analysis and problem solving for the mission critical systems and implements solutions by planning, managing resources, communicating progress, and delivering final products.
  • Ability to lead and manage large projects impacting large groups of end users independently and in collaboration with campus internal and external vendors and cross functional teamsDefines scope of objectives for projects based on user needs.Designs, analyze, develop, implement and maintain enhancements to the University’s enterprise computer applicationsFocuses on short and long-term strategic planning and contributes to the identification of areas for developmentDevelop and maintain documentation


    Bachelor’s Degree and five (5) years applicable experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experienceSeven (7) years verifiable programming skills using PL/SQL5 years of relevant experience with enterprise software solutions5 years of IT application design and development experience5 years of experience leading IT projectsExperience with Accounts Receivable Excellent communication and organization skills


    Demonstrated project management skillsExperience working in Higher Education ERP(Banner)Experience with SDLC processesMust be well spoken, creative, and energeticAble to work in a team environmentAble to work independently with minimal technical supervision


Requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience 


Project Management certification preferred.
