As a member of the Office of Development's Digital Strategy & Services team, the Fundraising & Marketing Technology Specialist will provide technical and consulting support for Stanford University's suite of digital fundraising and communications platforms. These include marketing automation, online fundraising, digital stewardship & proposal tools, websites, and other third-party solutions.

Job Purpose:

This unique role will primarily be responsible for providing Adobe Marketo Engage marketing automation consulting services and ensuring the successful adoption and use of the platform by recently onboarded users from across the Office of Development. A successful candidate will have relevant experience building automation strategies, deploying personalized campaigns using variable data, and ensuring the health of marketing automation operations. Through effective consulting services, the building and deployment of campaigns, establishing best practices and useful documentation, this role will help realize the capabilities of marketing automation for the Office of Development.

In partnership with the Digital Product Manager, this role will also support a suite of digital fundraising and engagement platforms and ensure their effective adoption, use, and growth across the Office of Development. This role will be responsible for onboarding new users, managing access and roles, maintaining accounts, providing technical support and QA services, managing data access and migrations, and running engagement analytics reports. In addition, this role will be asked to create and manage the delivery of documentation, guidelines, and help ensure all platforms are used in compliance with data protection guidelines.

Your responsibilities include:
  • Provide technical and strategic marketing automation consultation services.
  • Manage email and landing page template development projects.
  • Monitor send volumes.
  • Identify trends impacting deliverability.
  • Troubleshoot campaigns, email templates and landing pages.
  • Manage production and deployment of select email campaigns.
  • Provide training and support for marketing automation clients.
  • Provide technical support for proposal and stewardship platforms.
  • Partner to support online giving platforms and client requests.
  • Research, deploy and manage third party digital tools and user accounts.
  • Work with vendors to specify and manage feature enhancements.
  • Contribute to marketing automation and fundraising technologies community of practices.
  • Manage select web projects.
  • Contribute to email policy administration and governance.
  • Manage and contribute to documentation systems and processes.
  • Support the setup of analytics across properties and channels.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting for Google Analytics (GTM), Tableau, Marketo, online giving.
  • A commitment to promoting and supporting an environment of diversity and inclusion.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in a quantitative discipline such as computer science, accounting, operations, finance, statistics, or engineering preferred.
  • At least five years' experience working with Marketo, Marketing Cloud or equivalent EMS preferred.
  • Working experience complying with GDPR and CAN-SPAM
  • Knowledge of WCAG guidelines
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Subject matter expertise for area(s) of responsibility
  • Expertise in computer system capabilities, business processes and workflow
  • Expertise in business and management computer applications and databases
  • Ability to understand and apply the software development lifecycle and project management techniques.


Physical Requirements *:
  • Sitting in place at computer for long periods of time with extensive keyboarding/dexterity; occasionally use a telephone; rarely writing by hand.
