STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Individual Student Assessment and Development (percentage of time: 65%)

  • Oversee and report individual and team daily study hall sessions
  • Monitor and report academic progress of assigned student-athletes relative to NCAA, Big Ten and University requirements
  • Prepare and distribute NCAA required travel letters for athletes
  • Assist student athletes with academic schedule development and major exploration and planning
  • Facilitate interaction with or guide assigned student-athletes to campus and academic resources

Academic Program Development (percentage of time: 35%)

  • Communicate with campus faculty and staff regarding student-athlete progress and performance
  • Consult with coaches on a regular basis regarding academic performance of their student-athletes
  • Schedule campus appointments for, and meet with, prospective student--athletes on both official and unofficial visits
  • Provide comprehensive semester grade reports to Associate Athletic Director of Academic Services
  • Work compatibly and cooperatively with all personnel within the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and on the University of Illinois campus
  • Must be available to work some evenings and weekends
  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with specific NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institution rules that relate to this position is required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Required: Master’s degree in Education, Counseling or Sport Management or closely related field required.

Preferred: Experience in an NCAA Division I athletic academic support unit

Experience:

Required: Demonstrated experience working with at-risk student-athletes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with specific NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institution rules that relate to this position is required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
SALARY

Salary will be commensurate with experience

APPOINTMENT STATUS

100 % time of appointment status/percent time need to be changed in the future, an appointment change form will be not required.
