Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor

Job Summary:

Visiting Assistant Professor/Instructor (nine-month, non-tenure track position), two positions, beginning fall semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. These persons will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in social work, family science, and/or child life depending upon expertise and department need. Appointments are for August 2021-May 2022 with the possibility of renewal depending on available funding and job performance.

The Department of Family Science and Social Work (FSW) promotes a comprehensive understanding of the interconnected relationships between theory, research, and practice (e.g., prevention, intervention) by incorporating social work knowledge, values, and skills. Our programs prepare students to ethically respond to the complex needs of individuals, families, communities, groups, and organizations, from a global, social justice orientation. Faculty are committed to understanding the impact of intersecting identities, recognizing the impact of power and privilege for oneself and clients, and promoting social justice.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate in Family Science or Social Work or closely related field for appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor or Master’s degree in Family Science or Social Work or related field for appointment as Instructor by date of appointment.

Position is not eligible for H-1B sponsorship.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be made for candidates with demonstrated commitment to social justice and anti-oppression in teaching and practice; applied professional experience, including but not limited to a minimum of two years practice experience post master’s degree achievement; those holding the designation as a Certified Family Life Educator, Certified Child Life Specialist, or licensed (e.g., LSW, LISW, LISW-S) social worker; and experience teaching hybrid or fully online as well as face-to-face courses.
