Essential Job Duties:

As an integral member of the research team, the Research Support Assistant will perform a variety of duties in support of health research studies. The individual in this position may be involved in a wide range of activities needed to support the research. Specific duties will include but are not limited to:
1. Make travel arrangements and coordinate approvals for team members
2. Coordinate purchases of project related materials and ensure materials are well-stocked, prepared for use, and organized
3. Provide documentation to reconcile procurement card purchases including research participant compensation
4. Assist with regulatory compliance including IRB submissions and maintenance of regulatory forms and binders
5. Assist with the development of new and modification of existing study protocols and documents
6. Monitor spending and assist with budgetary projections
7. Assist with grant submission and reporting
8. On occasion when needed, contact study participants by mail or by telephone and assist with periodic in-person research events
9. Coordinate meetings including determining availability, scheduling, and making room reservations
10. Assist with maintenance of building and IT access
11. Data entry
12. Organize and submit requests for release of medical records and record requested information from the records
13. Work collaboratively with other members of the study team to identify creative solutions to address challenges in the conduct of the study
14. Maintain electronic and paper project files
15. May perform other duties incidental to research activities as assigned

Other Work/Responsibilities:

The individual in this position may occasionally assist with coverage of special human subjects research events which may include working evenings and weekends.

Minimum Experience/Education:

Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office programs including MS Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

Department Required Skills:

• Familiarity with MS Office and other applications for data entry, communication, and scheduling
• General computer efficiency and ability to learn new programs
• Extremely high level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment, with various team members
• Time-management, with frequent changes to prioritization of tasks
• Interest in public health research
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to operate and prioritize under strict deadlines and goals within a team environment
• Exercises sound judgment
• Ability to adapt and be flexible in order to meet new challenges in study conduct
• Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and writing, organization and planning skil

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:

• Interest in or familiarity with disparities research
• Previous research experience and/or familiarity with research and data collection methods is beneficial
• Familiarity with medical terminology is beneficial
