Position Description:
The UCLA Anderson School of Management Department of Computing & Information Services (ACIS) supports more than 2,000 users, including faculty, senior administration, staff, MBA, MFE, MSBA and PhD students. ACIS provides comprehensive and integrated web development, application development, system integration, technical business analysis and technical support for Anderson business units including financial services, admissions, career services, executive education, marketing & communications, alumni and development offices. ACIS also provides technology for research & instructional support to more than 100 Anderson School faculty and approximately 60 Ph.D. students.

Under the general direction of the Deputy CIO, the Technical Project Portfolio Manager establishes the project portfolio strategy and manages the portfolio of IT projects through a PMO. This includes but is not limited to managing project intake, facilitating resource management, managing portfolio performance, and reporting on the portfolio value to the CIO and other senior executives. The incumbent also works with supervisors to facilitate the coordination of staff resources across projects managed by the PMO. The incumbent coordinates the project management team to evaluate and recommend work processes to introduce efficiencies and consistency across projects.

As the lead project manager, the incumbent manages high-risk, high-visibility, and high-impact projects for ACIS. This is done using industry-standard best practices (e.g., PMI PMBOK) for project management leveraging activities such as project charters, scope and goal definition, status updates, change management, project timelines, project close-out and lessons learned. In addition, the incumbent helps to develop project management best practices for ACIS and aids in the training and adoption of approved best practices across the project management team.

The incumbent must have broad knowledge and comfort with technology and be able to work closely with highly technical staff on the planning and implementation of moderate to complex IT projects. These IT projects can include topics such as software development, hardware deployments, and implementation of new IT services.
