The Project Policy Analyst under the supervision of the Principal Investigator for HHIPP along with working in directed collaboration with the Co-PI and Director of Research Programs. The Project Policy Analyst will serve as a core member of the HHIPP research team. As a small team, this position will engage in all aspects of UCLA HHIPP activities in a mission-driven, results-driven and community-oriented team. Thus, the position is assigned responsibility to coordinate a variety of activities related to funded research and academic activities. The Project Policy Analyst will facilitate projects using tools and approaches from interdisciplinary fields of study (e.g. public health, epidemiology, social sciences, law and policy) for the HHIPP research team. The Project Policy Analyst will be responsible for but not limited to: assisting the team in coordinating administrative tasks related to research and research dissemination; managing day-to-day administrative implementation of research activities; coordinating tasks between research team, students, and other academic and community collaborators; attending meetings related to research administration and other academic activities; incorporating information and feedback into research workflow; assisting with answering study phones and screening participants for various studies; preparing presentations including graphs, tables, and other materials to disseminate research results; gathering references, copyediting, and confirming internal consistency and accuracy of written products; and assisting in the preparation of manuscripts and technical research reports.
The Project Policy Analyst will support and manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines. Within the HHIPP research team, the Project Policy Analyst will focus on (1) HIV health disparities; (2) HIV law and policy; (3) HIV at the intersection of mental health and substance use; and (4) health justice for individuals experiencing intersection oppressions.
The Project Policy Analyst will operate with efficiency and independence to execute tasks from conception to completion and provide high-level daily support to the PI. The incumbent will demonstrate sound judgment in triaging issues, determining how to carry out assignments and whether topics require prioritization, additional consultation and/or appropriate action. The Project Policy Analyst will be proactive and nimble in managing deadlines, identify potential problems and conflicts, and help resolve issues by bringing them to the attention of PI and Co-PI while developing creative problem-solving plans of action.
