Requirements

The Communications and Research Administrator is responsible for the daily communications and financial activities of the Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science (GHUCCTS). This includes oversight of internal and external communications, website and social media management, budget management, and financial reconciliation. This role is also responsible for assisting with data collection and reporting efforts required by the department, leadership, and federal entities. These functions are performed in accordance with Georgetown University Medical Center's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

Work Interactions

The work of the Communications and Research Administrator is essential to the effective operations of GHUCCTS. This person will serve as a central point of contact for all member institutions, offering guidance and support in increasing communication efforts, recruiting for available funding opportunities, and fiscal management of funds. This person will lead engagement efforts, both internal and external, that would foster innovation collaborations, strengthen proposal submission, and increase awareness among the national CTSA affiliates of the work that is accomplished at GHUCCTS. Cross-institutional interactions are essential in this position due to the multiple institutional partnership under the Center. The Communications and Research Administrator will report to the Senior Administrative Director.

Qualifications

Education Level:
  • Minimum Bachelor
  • Preferred Master's degree in Research Administration, Finance, Business or related field.
  • Certification in Research Administration a plus.


Practical Experience (years needed and type required):
  • 3-5 year academic administration experience, preferably in the research administration field
  • 3-5 years of experience in financial management, including daily operations and budget reconciliation.
  • 3-5 years of experience in organizational communications, including website maintenance and content writing, social media management


Technical Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of institutional and federal regulations/guidelines governing grants administration.
  • Skilled in using various software applications that can assemble, manipulate and format data and reports such as word processing (word), spreadsheets (excel), slide presentations (ppt), design software and databases, grants management software and tools (ASSIST).
  • Skilled in content management systems (CMS), web analytics and marketing software (iApps preferred).
  • Skilled in using online tools for coordinating meetings (i.e., Doodle poll, Need-to-Meet, etc.)
