The Military and Veterans Resource Center (MAVRC) serves military-connected students as they apply to, attend and advance beyond Georgetown. MAVRC connects students with the resources they need to transition successfully from military service to classroom to career. The Director of the Military and Veterans Resource Center will report to the Assistant Vice President for the Division of Student Affairs. MAVRC focuses on five primary areas:

  • Advising: Military-to civilian transition, pre-enrollment, informal career connections, cura personalis
  • Connection to Resources: School Certifying Officials, Academic Programs and Advisement, Admissions, Student Financial Services, Career Services, and Wellness
  • Student and Community Programming: for students, campus partners, external partners; on issues of well-being, intersectionality, and personal and professional success
  • Alumni Mentorship and Networking: Hoya Gateway, career services
  • Assessment and Research: Office of Assessment and Decision Support, Registrars, faculty, students

The position will serve as a hub to connect military-connected students among the Washington D.C. campuses and collaborate with partner offices to provide a supportive academic environment. The position will supervise up to two graduate assistants who will support programming initiatives.

The Director will support the Office of Advancement, the President's Office, and the Board of Directors and Regents in developing a strategic plan to enhance resources and services to best serve and celebrate the military-connected community on campus.

  • Master's Degree (in higher education or related field) with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience.
  • Experience working with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds including students of color, LGBTQ students, first generation students, military connected and veterans, students with disabilities and other underrepresented groups is required.
  • The applicant must have an understanding of the military-connected student experience in higher education. Experience with military/veteran community and culture is preferred.

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in a Jesuit, Catholic educational setting with particular attention to the role that mission plays in developing students, such as demonstrated care for the whole person and supporting diversity in community; and skills related to data and assessment; ability to work collaboratively with a broad group of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of current trends and issues in higher education, and student affairs is important.
