Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Creative and Special Projects, the UX Web Designer will be the full stack designer for web projects within the Wharton School's Office of External Affairs.

Job Description

You will be responsible for the design, maintenance, accessibility, and project management for all websites and related properties within the department using the Adobe Creative Suite, Wrike, WordPress, and HTML/CSS. Leveraging best practices in UX and UI, you will interact with internal partners and external departments to solve business problems and implement solutions.

As a project manager, you will assist with technical problems and questions, as well as plan and schedule all web-based projects. You will work both independently and in collaboration with others to manage the full scope of work with business partners by clearly and thoroughly communicating project deliverables and status.

Specific duties are as follows:

  • Translate programmatic, technical, and design requirements to ensure deliverables meet fully functional specifications and features for efficient websites and landing pages.
  • Utilize existing in-house web tools/systems and HTML/CSS with an emphasis on workflow and solutions. Ensure continued optimization of relevant web features, such as updating website content, implementing an SEO methodology, and improving user experience.
  • Utilize proper tracking methods within Google Analytics, produce standardized reports, and make modifications to themes and plug-ins.
  • Collaborate with business partners to develop custom site architecture, which includes sitemaps, user flow development, customer journeys, wireframe development, mockups, prototypes, and visual site map designs for proper of alignment of Wharton brands and associated digital properties.
  • Test and troubleshoot code and content—including APIs, format, text, graphics, photos, and video—for issues, quality assurance, accessibility, and performance optimization on all web pages. Ensure that technology changes and updates retain functionality for active websites on multiple browsers, mobile, desktop, etc.


Web design portfolio required. CMS knowledge is required with WordPress experience preferred. Understanding of UX Design Principles. Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript Basic knowledge of PHP, Git and GitHub. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite. Knowledge of Google Analytics is desired. Proven ability to be flexible while managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines. Excellent skills in communication and presentation. Minimum of Associate's degree and 2-3 years of required experience in web design and project management.
