  • Develop and teach the course in business journalism.
  • Coordinate with the Director of the Business Program.

Teach students how to interpret an earnings report or economic forecast, focus on the newsworthy elements, and elucidate its broader meaning to readers.

Writing may not only address contemporary business trends but also critically examine aspects of the private sector including white-collar crime (e.g. insider trading, securities fraud), political influence and policymaking, and economic trends that pose problems for American workers and their families (e.g., increase in part-time and nonstandard work, or the “gig economy”).

Critical thinking and historical context will be emphasized, with assignments geared toward weaving analysis and key data points into writing of all forms, from news features to investigative reports.

Minimum qualifications include a graduate degree in Journalism or a related field, at least three years of professional experience, and some teaching experience, preferably in a liberal arts context.
