Position Summary

 

Livingstone College is seeking an Assistant Professor of Social Work Beginning the Fall 2020 semester to teach various courses in Social Work. Teaching needs range from introduction to social work, social work practice, human behavior, the social environment, and social welfare policy. Advising for the Social Work learning community and oversight of the Social Work Club are additional assigned responsibilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director, the Career Services Specialist will:

  • Utilizing effective teaching and learning practices such as presentations, demonstrations, class discussion, infusion of technology in course assignments, and other appropriate modes of educational delivery.
  • Preparing course outlines and syllabi in accordance with program standards and in collaboration with the director of the department.
  • Leading and monitoring classroom instruction that promotes educational and learning progress.
  • Evaluating and grading student performance and posting attendance and grades in a timely manner.
  • Other contractual duties as assigned.
  • Education/ Experience

     

    What you will need to be successful!

    Master’s or Doctorate degree in Social Work.

     

    At least two years of post-master’s degree experience working in the Social Work profession.

     

    Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level.

     

    Successful experience with traditional face-to-face classes.

     

    Participating in curriculum/program development.

     

    Academic advising and degree auditing.

     

    Other skills and abilities include strong written and oral communication skills and knowledge of learning management platform such as Blackboard.

     

    Working knowledge of Office Suite.

     

    Positive evaluations of classroom management and instructional strategies.
