Position Summary:

The duties of the Assistant Director of Financial Aid fgbfgb`include coordination of office workflow and communications. This position provides front-line, direct customer service and has a key role in assisting students and parents in understanding the financial aid process. The successful candidate will serve as first point of contact for the office in assisting students, prospective students, and parents. S/he will coordinate office workflow and communications, in addition to assisting with counseling prospective and currently enrolled students and their parents concerning the financial aid process. Candidate will work to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations. The assistant will manage budgetary transactions, including purchase orders; check requests; travel requests; and credit card expenses. Assistant will report directly to the Director of Financial Aid and will serve as an intricate part of the financial team. S/he will work collaboratively with members of other departments and will always exhibit team spirit and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty. In addition to primary duties and responsibilities, candidate will also successfully complete other duties as assigned, to include ordering office supplies for the department, as well as assist departmental staff when and where needed.

Livingstone College has an enrollment of 1200 students and is strategically located 45 miles from Charlotte and the Piedmont Triad of Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point in the heart of Rowan County's historic Salisbury, North Carolina.


The successful candidate will have a bachelors degree in business administration, accounting, or office management from an accredited college or university. S/he will have 3-5 years of prior experience working in a business office setting, and/or 2-3 years of higher education experience (preferred). Basic math and accounting skills will be expected. Excellent oral and written communication skills including telephone techniques and etiquette are required. Knowledge of financial aid operations, functions and procedures is helpful. Requires the ability to work independently and act as a team-player serving as a backup for other staff members as needed. Computer proficiency, including efficient and accurate data entry and retrieval, is required.
