Reporting to the Chairperson of the Department of Podiatric Medicine in the School of Podiatric Medicine (TUSPM), the X-Ray Technologist (Full-Time) provides radiology services in a manner that ensures a safe, expeditious, and courteous patient experience and timely, accurate data recording for patients treated at the Foot and Ankle Institute, Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), Leonard Abrams Center for Advanced Wound Healing, Temple Total Therapy (T3) and other health services divisions of TUSPM.  The X-Ray Technologist will explain to patients’ the purpose and required positioning for radiographic procedure(s), process digital radiographs of patients as specified by treating clinician(s), ensuring optimal image density, detail, contrast and proper radiation protection for patient and technician(s), review digital radiographs for patient identity, appropriate body positioning and quality, post digital radiographs to web-enabled scan retrieval system and prepare and disseminate radiographic films as required. In addition, this position assists in the academic and training programs of the School with regard to patient position and radiation safety to 3rd and 4th year students. 

Education & Experience:

Completion of an accredited 2-year radiologic technology program required; current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and current licensure as an x-ray technician in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are required; three years’ experience in a podiatric or orthopedic practice is preferred.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Physical Requirements:

Sitting/standing for extended periods, lifting, stretching and bending to transport supplies and equipment weighing up to 25 lbs., ability to support patients with ambulatory dysfunction by foot and wheelchair, ability to physically balance patient(s) for the purpose of lower extremity imaging, frequent foot travel between laboratory, clinical, academic and administrative offices.

Potential to work nights/weekends/early mornings, work eight (8) hours in a day for consecutive days to cover for absent co-workers, work overtime and travel between multiple medical practice locations.
