General Description: Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Support, the Director for Accommodations and Access ensures compliance with Section 504
of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Director for Accommodations and Access is responsible for developing and providing
innovative college-wide strategic leadership, vision and direction, as well as administrative and fiscal oversight of the Office of Accommodations and Access.
This position will work collaboratively with Academic Affairs and Student Services to ensure the highest quality of services are provided to students in order to
ensure holistic services and support for students with disabilities. In addition, the Director will lead the charge to increase visibility, sensitivity, and inclusivity
of students with differing abilities in the NOVA community.

Essential Functions: Manage the Office of Accommodations and Access.
Supervise campus-based and central office staff including counselors, interpreters, and assistive technology, alternate text, and database specialists.
Ensure that all students with documented disabilities receive appropriate and timely accommodations.

Ensure the College’s compliance with the ADA and Section 594 of the Rehabilitation Act.
Manage community outreach events and serve as primary liaison for disability services to the College’s feeder K-12 school divisions.
Develop and implement program orientations and other transition and success activities for students with disabilities and parents.

Special Assignments:

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications:

Required KSAs: Understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act as they pertain to higher education. Collaborative and inclusive management style.

Excellent presentation skills. In-depth knowledge of interpreter services. Familiarity with commonly used assistive technologies.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrated management skills.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in a discipline or field appropriately related to the position or master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in a discipline or field related to the position. Degrees and qualifying coursework must be from a regionally accredited institution.
Considerable experience in a leadership/supervisory role related to providing services for students with disabilities in higher education, which includes program management, policy development and implementation, and budget management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in higher education administration, or in a discipline/field appropriately related to the position, from a regionally accredited institution. Significant years of community college experience.
