Criminal Background Check

Position Summary:

Offer is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.

Manages day-to-day operation of the Middlebury College box office, and ensures excellent, efficient, professional ticketing and sales services and customer service year-round.

Essential Functions:

Oversees year-round ticket and sales services, in person, on the phone, and online. Ensures excellent standards of customer service.
Works with students, artists, department coordinators, student activities, athletics, MCAB, College administration, and other campus departments to arrange for efficient, professional ticket services.
Oversees programming of events into ticket software and online box office.
Maintains accuracy and timeliness of information on the online box office and box office web page.
Generates sales and event reports and helps analyze trends.
Helps develop and distribute surveys as needed.
Ensures accurate collection of funds and balancing of cash drawers, including cash, checks, credit cards, and online payment gateway funds. Ensures PCI compliance.
Prepares and delivers deposits to cashier’s office. Routes funds to departments per ticket sales. Accounts for ticket service fees and routes funds appropriately. Accounts for sales taxes and ensures payment to the State of Vermont.
Hires, trains, schedules, and supervises student box office workers. Ensures effective communication with/between staff with varied shifts. Stays on-call for student workers during evening and weekend shifts as necessary.
Maintains updated Standard Operating Procedures manual.
Oversees production of sales and publicity reports.
Provides accurate, up-to-date marketing assistance for the arts at Middlebury.
Hosts Tickets and Information Desk and serves as primary phone contact for the Mahaney Arts Center.
Looks for ways to optimize revenue.
Maintains mailing lists.
Serves as liaison to ticket software provider. Stays abreast of updates and initiates maintenance when appropriate. Works with campus IT staff to troubleshoot. Performs equipment maintenance as necessary.
Develops systems for complimentary ticket policies, including notification and distribution.
Fields customer inquiries and problems.

General Responsibilities:

Participates in the development and implementation of MAC goals and objectives.
Plans proactively and innovatively to support the artistic initiatives of the students, faculty, staff and visiting artists.
Engages audiences with programs that extend artistic impact and learning.
Complements existing arts programs with meaningful activities that connect artists to our communities, provide context, and maximize the impact of arts experiences.
Manages resources to advance the performing and visual arts in our community.
Promote organizational teamwork, participative management, customer service, and collaborative problem solving. Maintains flexibility and willingness to contribute to the resolution of problems.
Serves as MAC liaison to selected arts areas, Commons, and assigned committees.
Collaborates with MAC staff on event compliance related to accessibility and safety.
Communicates effectively and appropriately, verbally and in writing, with individuals of extremely diverse backgrounds and large groups. Occasional public presentations required. Ability to listen and consider the views of others.
Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.

Education:

Associates or bachelors degree required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesNon-traditional work schedule, flexing to accommodate events and performances. Frequent evenings and weekends required.
Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills required. Must be detail-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Must demonstrate sound judgment, discretion, and respect for confidentiality.
Familiarity with the performing arts field preferred. Knowledge of collegiate environment and/or Middlebury College preferred. Knowledge of College policies and procedures helpful.
Clerical experience and computer skills required (typing; familiarity with Microsoft word, excel, powerpoint, outlook; search engines, and internet navigation). Drupal/web familiarity preferred. Strong written language skills and visual sense preferred (editing, proofreading, layout of signs and announcements, etc.)

Experience:

Customer service, sales, or cashier experience required. Clerical experience and computer skills required.

Physical Demands:
