•Experience in cross-cultural advising specifically empathizing and identifying with international students, scholars, and faculty.
•Ability to understand, interpret, and explain complex regulations or policies.
•Excellent verbal, listening, writing, problem-solving, and interpersonal communication skills.
•Effective at using organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through.
•Ability to work efficiently while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and complete tasks within established deadlines.
•Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
•Experience in public speaking and presenting complex information to large diverse groups.
•Experience in event or program planning and digital marketing.
•Experience working effectively in a team environment and collaborating with various stakeholders.
•Bachelor’s degree.
•Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Legal Permanent Resident per federal regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Experience in higher education academic advising with the ability to assess student needs and provide appropriate resources and referrals.
•Knowledge of higher education admission requirements and university enrollment.
•Experience working with international student recruiters and managing international partnerships.
•Experience living, working, or studying in a different country.
•Knowledge of immigration policies particularly F-1/J-1 regulations and the international student lifecycle.
•Experience using ISSM, SEVIS, or similar student information system.
•Fluency in a language other than English.

Job Description:

Coordinates outreach efforts to prospective international students and guide students with recruitment, admissions, immigration, and pre-arrival processes. Serves as the first-year advisor for all new F-1 and J-1 international students. Advises F-1 and J-1 international students with SEVIS compliance, immigration regulations, campus services, and cultural adjustment. Assists with initiatives to attract new international students through digital marketing, recruitment agencies, institutional partners, and enhancing university brand recognition in global markets.

Job Duties:

•Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and assist with SEVIS management and institutional compliance with federal regulations.
•Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective and new international students.
•Serves as the first-year advisor for all new F-1 and J-1 international students.
•Create Form I-20s for initial, transfer, change of status, and change of level students.
•Assists the Assistant Vice President for International Affairs (AVPIA) with streamlining departmental processes and developing and coordinating external relationships with partners, recruitment agencies, consultants and vendors.
•Coordinates print and digital media communications and marketing materials for prospective students, recruiting agencies, and international partners.
•Manage new international student orientations, pre-arrival webinars, virtual tours, and other related programing events.
•Manages the ISSS social media accounts and responsible for ISSS digital media efforts.
•Responsible for coordinating with Texas State University admission offices, academic departments, program coordinators, and others university officials to facilitate international student recruitment and enrollment.
•Facilitate ISSS workshops and other presentations to external stakeholders and campus departments.
•Actively seek campus and community resources that contribute to international student retention.
•Assist with ISSS events and programming.
•Provide support to the ISSS Front Desk and PDSO/DSOs as needed.
•Position may require in-state, out-of-state, or international travel.
•Position may require working evenings or weekends several times per year.
•Perform other duties as required.
