Position Summary
The Dallas College Facilities Management Department supports the facility needs for Dallas College while providing responsible stewardship and efficient operation of the College's physical assets. The Facilities Management Department is responsible for approximately 5,000,000 sq. ft. of physical space and over 1400 acres of land, located across multiple locations in Dallas County. The position of HVAC Supervisor supports that effort through the performance and supervision of advanced skilled craftwork in the HVAC trade.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Must be able to read and interpret data from charts, gauges, dials, blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals as needed when making adjustments, repairs, or installations.
• Must be able to operate, diagnose, analyze, record findings on all HVAC equipment including boilers, chillers, pumps, motors, air handling units.
• Able to promote a diverse customer focused environment.
• Able to maintain safe work practices for all areas supervised.
• Ability to resolve challenges that surface from daily operations.
• Knowledge and ability to support quality control standards in all areas assigned.
• Ability to read and interpret data generated by the Energy Management System.
• Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse internal/external stakeholders and constituents within the Dallas College community network.
• This is a working supervisor position.


Physical Requirements

Minimum Knowledge and Experience
• High School Diploma or equivalent plus ten (10) years of related commercial HVAC experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience.
• Must have Chiller/boiler experience and have experience in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of Chillers and boilers from multiple manufacturers.
• Ability to work extended hours beyond the regular 8:00 am to 5:00 pm workday including nights and weekends.
• Current and valid Texas driver’s license required for offsite travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintains compliance with preventive maintenance standards, policies, and procedures, conducting training for technicians in repair and preventative maintenance procedures.
• Manages the skilled technicians engaged in repairing HVAC equipment of the college facilities.
• Responsible for all installation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, and air condition units and associated air handling, and chilled water distribution.
• Ensures the highest quality of HVAC work across all Dallas College locations.
• Responsible for the maintenance of records, the preparation of reports and the requisitioning of supplies, tools, materials, and equipment.
• Coordinates the completion of work orders, estimation of materials, labor costs and equipment needed when ordering materials and supplies.
• Assists facilities management leadership in prioritizing HVAC maintenance projects and supervises a team of HVAC technicians and will be responsible for HVAC team budget.
• Coordinates the work of independent contractors engaged in HVAC and electrical repair work.
• Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, college staff, and outside agencies associated with the college.
• Assist with the yearly budget preparation.
• May supervise full time staff.
• Works with other Facilities teammates to ensure the highest level of customer service.
• Provides safe and healthy buildings for Dallas College students, faculty, and staff.
• Assists other Facilities Management teams as required.
• Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
