The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Graduate School has an opportunity for a Clinical Innovation and Health Professions Educator (CIE) for the Physician Assistant Leadership and Learning Academy (PALLA). The Clinical Innovation and Health Professions Educator will be responsible for coordinating academic- clinical partnerships and supporting new models of clinical education for PALLA and associated PA programs in the state of Maryland. Specifically, the candidate will support the building of a regional center of excellence for clinical education, improving capacity for Telehealth-enabled clinical training, coordinating clinical activities among Maryland PA programs, and evaluating the efficacy, effectiveness, and impact of these innovations. The candidate is expected to apply in-depth senior level knowledge, concepts, principles, and skills as related to optimizing clinical education for health professions. The candidate will be expected to apply independent judgment, discretion, creativity, and analytical thinking supporting PALLLA’s mission of advancing PA education, leadership, research and policy. As increasing clinical capacity has now become a priority for nearly all health related training programs, the Clinical Innovation and Health Professions Educator will innovate new models through a regional center of excellence for clinical education in collaboration with PALLA faculty and stakeholders. They will serve as a central liaison to innovate and coordinate transformative clinical education activities necessary to build capacity for the Maryland PA programs. This position will coordinates academic- clinical partnerships across the state to recruit Maryland preceptors for participation in the clinical telehealth training programs.  In collaboration with PA program faculty, this individual will arrange clinical placements and support the evaluation of learning outcomes, training data, and effectiveness of the academic clinical partnerships at various sites.The Clinical Innovation and Health Professions Educator will communicate and responds to student and faculty concerns about their clinical education experiences. Improves capacity for telehealth-enabled clinical training. Fosters strategic partnerships and advocacy within regional health systems and maintains communication with community partners and stakeholders such as regional clinical coordinators, preceptors especially in clinical sites serving underrepresented populations. Facilitates PALLA’s initiatives in the preceptor training and development program in collaboration with various stakeholders. Supports faculty in developing and implementing simulation-based learning activities. Maintains awareness of advances in health professions education particularly around clinical education and accreditation requirements. Evaluates the efficacy, effectiveness, and impact of these clinical education innovations. Develops, compiles, and writes program reports related to the clinical optimization mission of PALLA. Prepares and delivers presentations of relevant findings and conclusions from clinical education research projects. May contribute to the preparation of manuscripts or publications arising from clinical education related projects.  Provides project management support to the executive leadership team of PALLA.     Coordinates and implements health education programs in a community setting. Provide community outreach education designed to build awareness, interest, and participation in medical and/or clinical research initiatives. Supervises community outreach workers. Generally, supervises community interviewers, outreach workers, or volunteers. Plan health program content develops goals, targets group, identifies desired outcomes and chooses teaching or intervention methods. Organize and develop or obtain training procedure manuals and guides and course materials such as handouts and visual materials. Assess, analyze, and select appropriate training systems using traditional or alternative methods, techniques, and formats Oversee data collection and management. Evaluate program results and adjusts methods accordingly.  Act as a liaison with university, school, community and governmental health agencies. Act as a technical resource and identifies opportunities to combine or enhance existing programs. Support program viability by assisting with data analysis, presentations and grant writing Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Master’s degree in a related field.Experience: One (1) year of experience in related fieldOther: Knowledge of adult learning principles; skills in training program design and development, including experiential learning methods. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIESKnowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
