Responsible for the oversight, management, and success of the financial aid and veteran outreach and work-study division to achieve its objectives and goals while increasing knowledge related to higher education.Description of Duties and TasksEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Supervises, trains, coaches, directs, coordinates, and disciplines personnel while adhering to organizational human resource policies and procedures as well as related employment laws. Recommends hire and termination personnel actions for positions supervised.
  • Responsible for the oversight and success of financial aid and veteran outreach initiatives and special programs such as the management of the Federal and State Work-Study Program; manages and monitors the daily operations of the outreach and work-study division; identifies opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; provides recommendations concerning process changes, reviews with appropriate management staff, and implements improvements.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates proactive intervention, retention, and support activities for financial aid and veteran students; provides measurable outcomes regarding outreach programs with the intent to assist toward the increase of financial aid recipients at ACC.
  • Oversees the coordinating, planning, and implementation of outreach activities for financial aid and veteran students including training of staff, scheduling supportive interactions with internal stakeholders and outside agencies and partners, and organizing attendance at events such as Financial Aid Month.
  • Determines and recommends staffing needs for assigned programs, services, projects, and activities; participates in annual budget preparation; prepares detailed cost estimates; maintains a variety of records and prepares routine reports of work performance.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of marketing, communication, and advertising strategies to promote assigned programs, projects, and services; serves as a liaison to the Student Affairs Communications and College Marketing Offices.
  • Collaborates with the campuses and financial aid district leadership to identify potential community partners to assist with educating the ACC district members about financial aid opportunities through proactive outreach; develops relationships with local high schools and community organizations; serves as primary point of contact for members of the local community and school districts regarding ACC financial aid programs and services.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with internal ACC departments and organizations with the intent of streamlining access to financial aid opportunities for high need student groups such as Ascender and BRASS.
  • Serves as a communication liaison for recruitment and outreach efforts with students regarding retention and student success services; works collaboratively with internal partners such as the Recruitment, Enrollment, Student Money Management Offices to ensure current and prospective students have equitable access to financial aid opportunities.
  • Represents the Financial Aid Office at open houses, college fairs, high school nights, Riverbat Access, and all other on or off campus events pertaining to student enrollment and retention.
  • Monitors project data collection of outreach efforts. In collaboration with the Student Affairs and the Office of Institutional Research and Analytics, monitors student access and retention data and assists in the development and implementation of outreach programs by incorporating data analysis and current research.
  • Receives, investigates, and responds to difficult and sensitive problems and complaints in a professional manner; identifies and reports findings and takes necessary corrective action.
  • Prepares and presents various reports and other necessary correspondence; supervises the preparation and maintenance of related reports, records, and files; ensures the proper documentation of activities.
  • Participates in institutional committees and training related to student success and retention goals that enhance opportunities for ACC students.

    Current knowledge in guided pathways to ensure college access, enrollment (admissions/financial aid) and student services retention and completion strategies.     Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software. Use student information and database systems. May also use social media, work with desktop publishing and update program webpage. Required Work Experience


  • Two years related work experience including one year supervisory experience.
  • Completion of the ACC Supervisor Certificate Series Program will satisfy the supervisory experience required for this position.
  • Preferred Work Experience


    Experience working with students and parents who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education. Required Education


  • Bachelor's degree.

  • ACC Benefits OverviewFull-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.

    ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by Federal law.
