Job Summary Job ID: 228209Position# 20006525 Consistent with the strategic plan of the MCG, the Education Innovation Institute drives both research in medical education and capacity building in the scholarship of medical education. This position is key to the EII fulfilling its important role in supporting and strengthening the medical education scholarship at MCG. The person in this role will conduct and publish research in their chosen area(s) integrated into the MCG strategic plan and related EII tactical plans. This position will bring skills and energy to the MCG 3+ curriculum and MCG generally in several critical ways. First, this person will conduct high quality research studies on some of the important features of the new curriculum, including aspects of our striking and unique faculty development. This will be added to the data already being generated. These studies will help guide the implementation and improvement of the new curriculum. This will also allow us to see on the horizon important and valuable changes that we can make to the curriculum to achieve the goals that we have set out. Second, and related to the first, this person’s expertise in teaching and learning will allow him or her to introduce and/or develop more effective approaches that they can test, study, and work-up. Third, this person will provide some direct support to faculty up-skilling in effective approaches to teaching and learning through a commitment to working with faculty in the faculty development programs. For example, this person will be able to contribute to the re-designed Research Fellowship that will help cultivate in faculty from several health professions colleges and programs research capacity in education. Furthermore, the Research Fellowship will support faculty to advance their careers through the proposed joint venture with the College of Education: a series of Certificates and a Masters in Health Professions Education. Future leaders in health professions education will be better trained to take on their educational responsibilities. Finally, this person will enhance the work of the others also engaged in research in medical education, especially the core researchers in the Education Innovation Institute of MCG through collaborations and contributions to our community of practice in health professions education. All of these unique and valuable functions are integral to the strength and growth of the educational mission of the MCG.
