Position Highlights:

A research technician position is immediately available to work in research projects relating to CO2 production by fungi during fruiting. The major responsibility of this position will include culturing fungal isolates in the laboratory, preparing substrates for fruiting mushroom cultures, maintaining and managing fruiting facilities, establishing production experiments in CO2 fruiting chambers, and statistical analysis of resulting data. The position is half-time and temporary, but opportunities for full time and permanent employment may be open with satisfactory performance.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

Duties & Responsibilities:

DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Culturing fungal isolates in the laboratory
  • Preparing substrates for fruiting mushroom cultures
  • Maintaining and managing fruiting facilities
  • Establishing CO2 experiments in fruiting facilities
  • Statistical analysis of resulting data
  • Additional duties may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of mushroom taxonomy and physiology
  • Ability to work independently with good oral and written communication skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, mycology, or related biological science.
