Position Highlights:

The Arizona Student Unions is looking for a full-time Dining Services Supervisor (Culinary & Food Services Manager I) to join our team. This position will be located at our dining facility located at the Honors Hall. As a Dining Services Supervisor you will oversee the day to day operations of the Honors Dining Services. This supervisory position will supervise full-time, part-time and student employees. The candidate must be available to work nights and weekends. The Student Union Memorial Center is one of the largest student unions in the United States. At a size of 405,000 square feet, SUMC contains everything students need.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervises two or more full-time employees, or their equivalent, on a regular basis
  • Makes decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees, or makes related recommendations that are given particular weight
  • Monitors work methods, standards of performance, sanitation and safety standards
  • Determines food supplies needed and orders additional inventory; checks in orders to verify receipt
  • Opens and closes food service unit and insures it is operationally ready in accordance with established procedures; maintains proper security of unit
  • Participates in planning related to budget, menus, pricing and operational procedures and objectives
  • Monitors food service equipment to ensure it is in proper working order; arranges for repair of equipment as necessary
  • Interviews and selects temporary and/or student employees
  • Trains employees, establishes work schedules, evaluates performance, and takes corrective action
  • Maintains time records for each employee
  • Ensures quality food preparation, presentation and service to the customer
  • Handles customer complaints in regard to food service provided and follows through with necessary action
  • Maintains cleanliness of dining room and kitchen areas; sweeps, mops and vacuums floors; cleans dishes from tables and cleans dining room tables and chairs
  • Responsible for cleaning of employee and public restrooms; operates power cleaning equipment
  • Additional duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Skill with Computer
  • Knowledge with commercial and/or institutional food service equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to multi-task is essential

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends
  • Must be able to transport/move a minimum of 40 pounds
  • Valid Driver's License at time of hire to be able to transport product from the main kitchen to the Honors Dining and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
