Employees at this level perform supervisory duties in a food service operation. They work under general supervision from a designated supervisor. These vacancies may occur in departments across the Urbana-Champaign campus. A Food Service Supervisor typically:
- is in charge of a dining room
- trains and supervises dining room and kitchen employees
- assists in the planning of menus
- assists in food preparation
- supervises serving of food
- arranges work schedules
- assists in planning and serving banquets and special functions
- is responsible for the general appearance and operation of a dining room
1. (A) high school graduation or equivalent
(B) two years of progressively responsible food service experience
(C) any combination of the above training and experience computed on the basis of two academic years of training equaling 12 months of work experience

Food Service Supervisor positions are benefits-eligible civil service positions. Most positions are full-time (37.5 hours per week), 12 months per year. The minimum stating salary is $18.55 per hour.
