Primary Position Function/Summary:

The Extension Program Coordinator is a non-academic staff position with University of Illinois Extension whose responsibility is to provide program support for the Unit’s 4-H Youth Development programming efforts in the Clark County office and the multi-county unit. The Extension Program Coordinator is responsible for implementing and coordinating educational programs and volunteer opportunities which are designed to foster the acquisition of knowledge and the development of individuals and communities

  • Work with the Unit’s Extension Councils, committees, and staff as assigned to plan, promote, implement, and evaluate 4-H youth development programs.
  • Some specific tasks might include: Arranging for facilities and equipment, recruiting and placing volunteers in key roles, promoting programs via a variety of media, developing direct mail pieces such as newsletters, collecting feedback from participants, and preparing reports to describe program accomplishments.
  • Coordinate the planning of educational activities for the Unit’s 4-H Youth Development program.
  • Work with County Extension Director, other staff, and local contacts to identify critical needs and issues relating to youth programming particularly the 4-H Community Club program within the Clark County office of the multi-county unit.
  • Assists in formulating and insuring the implementation of standard operating procedures for program activities, including guidelines to insure the safety and welfare of participants.
  • Present educational programs as required. Program materials utilized will be developed by Extension Educators and/or Campus Specialists. Nationally recognized curriculum may also be utilized. 5%Assist with the development of marketing plans and goals to recruit participants for educational activities and develop advertising and publicity for those activities.
  • Work with staff and volunteers to collect, process, and maintain program records and data.
  • Disseminate educational information provided by Extension professionals.
  • Conduct evaluations of program activities and recommend continuation, modification, or discontinuance of the program.
  • Submit monthly and quarterly reports. 5%Participate in relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Work with Extension staff as well as other agency professionals and volunteers to facilitate programming in the youth development area.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school graduation or GED

2. Any one or any combination that equals four (4) years/ 48 months of responsible volunteer or professional work experience in coordinating educational and/or community programs or activities

B. College coursework in any field of study

  • 60 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
  • 90 semester hours equals three (3) years (36 months)
  • 120 semester hours or more equals four (4) years (48 months)

    This Extension Program Coordinator position is a 100%-time, benefits-eligible Civil Service position. The work schedule is to be determined (37.5 hours per week, 12 months per year). The minimum salary is $18.55 per hour.
