The Ida B. Wells Society for Investigative Reporting is seeking a detail-oriented, self-starting student to join our team this summer for a paid internship.
The IBWS summer internship program is open to rising juniors and seniors (non-graduating) of UNC-Chapel Hill who are interested in the Society’s mission of advancing journalists of color in the field of investigative reporting.
Founded in 2016 by veteran journalists Nikole Hannah-Jones, Ron Nixon, and Topher Sanders, the Ida B. Wells Society seeks to provide high-caliber training and resource support for journalists of color pursuing investigative work. The Society is housed at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media at UNC-Chapel Hill.
The IBWS program intern will work with IBWS staff on research, database development and marketing focused on engaging and supporting journalists of color. This is a full-time internship. The internship will begin remotely in late June with the potential to extend through the fall semester as an in-office position.
To qualify, students must be registered members of the Ida B. Wells Society. Membership is free and applicants can register at idabwellssociety.org. Students from historically underrepresented communities are encouraged to apply.Education and Experience:
