About the Department:

The National Science Foundation Center for Integrated Pest Management (NSF CIPM) was established in 1991 to serve a lead role in technology development, program implementation, training, and public awareness for IPM at the state, regional, and national level. NSFCIPM fosters the development and implementation of pest management programs. NSF CIPM is an Industry/University Cooperative Research Center, which works to support and further Integrated Pest Management through the evaluation of emerging technologies, information management and dissemination, environmental stewardship, estimation of economic consequences, resistance management tools and systems, and integration of disciplinary expertise. The Center manages grants programs for the USDA, develops regional and national priorities through workshops and stakeholder meetings, and develops and maintains large databases and database applications for USDA, EPA, and Ministries of Agriculture in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean.

Essential Job Duties:

As an IT Operations Analyst, this position will maintain, service, and troubleshoot Center for Integrated Pest Management (CIPM) servers and desktops. In addition, this analyst position will diagnose, upgrade, and maintain CIPM network as needed.

Other IT Operations Analyst responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Installing software and upgrades
  • Diagnosing hardware and software issues
  • Coordinating activities with developers and principal investigators (PI’s)
  • Client troubleshooting (work with users to resolve PC / Mac trouble)
  • Troubleshooting print server issues
  • Off-hours server/software installation/troubleshooting
  • Installing, managing, and troubleshooting other software such as storage (JBOD, SANs, iSCSI, fibre channel) and virtualization: Hyper V/VM
  • IT security compliance auditing/remediation

This position will work directly with Federal IT on certification & accreditation requirements.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, or a closely related field with1-2 years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.

Other Required Qualifications:

Experience in Server Operating Systems and Application Administrator tools such as Active Directory (AD), or similar software

Knowledge of IT infrastructure and networking, network security, and monitoring

Preferred Qualifications:

2-3 years of experience managing IT infrastructure (hardware and software)

1 or more years of Exchange 2013 experience

1 or more years of Coldfusion 11+ server administration experience

1 or more years of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 administration

1 or more years of Cisco ASA Firewall configuration/administration (or comparable alternative e.g. pfSense) experience

1 or more years of experience with Hyper-V clustering

1 or more years of experience with VLAN configuration

1 or more years of experience with iSCSI & Fiber Channel SAN administration

Experience with Server Operating Systems (OS) such as Windows Server 2008+ and Linux (RHEL 6+)

Applications administration experience with Active Directory, Failover Clusters, Print Server, IIS/Apache, ColdFusion 11+, MSSQL, DPM Backups, SCCM, SCOM

Network / Server monitoring experience with SC Ope. Manager, intrusion det./prev. systems

Experience with Desktop OS such as Windows 10 laptop/desktop admin; Networking: Cisco ASA, VPN, IDE, subnet

Scripting/Powershell experience (make to write and analyze)
