This position is on site at our Cullowhee campus.
To manage office and departmental activities for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.
The Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Departmental office Administrative Support Associate (ASA) works in conjunction with and support of the CSD Department Head, faculty, and students to manage daily departmental activities. The position requires on site basic secretarial, administrative, and office support skills allowing for the implementation of departmental policies and procedures. Specific CSD ASA functions include, but are not limited to: the preparation of documents and reports; budget management; the use of office technology; record compilation; office and instructional material procurement, and file maintenance. The CSD ASA also works closely with faculty to facilitate the execution of tasks such as room and class scheduling, travel arrangement and reimbursement, and ongoing problem-solving. The CSD ASA is the front person for the department and, as such, interacts positively and supportively with students, other WCU departments and agencies, and all external stakeholders.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position:
Duties include monitoring and reconciling departmental budgets
and tracking travel and office expenditures; scheduling and
coordinating appointments, meetings and events, scheduling and supervising student workers in the department; records, compiles
and smmarizes data using established university formats;
understands programs and services and applies this knowledge in
problem solving and responding to most questions and inquiries;
using program knowledge to interface with other offices and
organizations on campus; selecting, understanding and fully
applying features of a variety of software programs, machines or
office equipment; plans and facilitates the support activities of the office or work unit; coordinates with others to complete tasks; and
other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with office management, budgets, and office technology. Graduation from a community or four-year college preferred. Applicants with expertise in web posting, social media, and new technology are highly desirable.Anticipated Hiring Range:
