Research Associate

Department of Ophthalmology

Nature of Work

CellSight, the Ocular Stem Cell and Regeneration Program at the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, seeks a full-time (1.O FTE) Research Associate to carry out research in the areas of stem cell technologies and regenerative medicine. CellSight is a cross-disciplinary team of investigators working in a highly collaborative environment with the common goal of developing novel stem cell-based therapeutics to treat ocular diseases. This is an exciting, new line of work using cutting-edge technology in the stem cell field and we are looking for motivated and independent scientists willing to contribute their expertise and knowledge. There is no direct patient care or contact involved in this position.

The Research Associate will report to CellSight Director, Dr. Valeria Canto-Soler, Ph.D.

Examples of Work Performed

The duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform ocular surgeries and procedures in animal models
  • Perform post-operative ocular assessment of animal models
  • Design and execution of research studies
  • Processing of end point ocular samples, including sample processing and cryopreservation, histological and immunohistochemical analysis among others
  • Participate on the development of novel non-invasive imaging technology for visual functional assessment
  • Analysis and interpretation of research results
  • Maintain effective communication with the investigator and other team members
  • Keep an organized record of research experiments and results
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in scientific journals
  • Participate in lab meetings and other programmatic meetings
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $60,000-80,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Medical Doctor (MD) degree
  • Completed Retina Fellowship
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have all or most of the following credentials:

  • Experience performing retinal surgeries
  • Experience performing ocular assessment with OCT and ERG
  • Previous experience in vision science research
