Nature of Work

The Department of Neurosurgery at CU Anschutz has an opening for a full-time faculty position in the tenure track at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Department’s goal is to build a multi-disciplinary group of investigators driving research innovations and education in neurologic health. We are seeking expertise in neurochemical studies on aging and neurologic injury and development of programmatic research on aging, neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation. The Department is focused on developing novel approaches to understanding neurologic injury and disorders, and identifying and applying methods, approaches and tools to diagnosis and treatment. In addition to collaborating with other researchers and clinicians within the Department of Neurosurgery, we anticipate that the faculty member will develop new collaborations with other Departments and multidisciplinary groups on the Anschutz Medical Campus.

Position will supervise technical staff and trainees and will assist in the coordination of professional staff activities and efforts.

Examples of Work Performed

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Conduct researchCollaborate with other physicians-scientists and scientists both within and outside of the DepartmentDevelop novel technology for biomarker detection, inflammation and aging fieldResearch mentorship (graduate/medical students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, fellows, and research staff)Obtain extramural support for studies involving the study of aging, neurologic injury and neuroinflammation.Publish high-impact manuscripts in peer reviewed journals.Provide academic leadership and service to the Department, School, University and profession.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for positions at the Research Assistant Professor level has been established at $80,000 to $85,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

    PhD in Neuroscience, Toxicology, Pharmacology, or a related degreeAccomplishments and publications in the areas of aging, neurologic injury and/or neurodegeneration.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with team-based research that promotes an inclusive environmentExperience in morphological, behavioral, biochemical techniquesExperience in methodological development for exosome isolation and characterization is a plusDemonstrated potential to establish an independent extramurally funded program of researchApplicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
