Read CU Anschutz Quick Facts here.Nature of WorkThe Department of Neurosurgery at CU Anschutz has an opening for a full-time faculty position in the tenure track at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Department’s goal is to build a multi-disciplinary group of investigators driving research innovations and education in neurologic health. We are seeking expertise in neurochemical studies on aging and neurologic injury and development of programmatic research on aging, neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation. The Department is focused on developing novel approaches to understanding neurologic injury and disorders, and identifying and applying methods, approaches and tools to diagnosis and treatment. In addition to collaborating with other researchers and clinicians within the Department of Neurosurgery, we anticipate that the faculty member will develop new collaborations with other Departments and multidisciplinary groups on the Anschutz Medical Campus.Professional FieldNeuroscience, Biology, Physiology, Toxicology, PharmacologySupervision ReceivedPosition will report to the Vice-Chair for Research.Supervision ExercisedPosition will supervise technical staff and trainees and will assist in the coordination of professional staff activities and efforts. Examples of Work PerformedDuties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct researchCollaborate with other physicians-scientists and scientists both within and outside of the DepartmentDevelop novel technology for biomarker detection, inflammation and aging fieldResearch mentorship (graduate/medical students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, fellows, and research staff)Obtain extramural support for studies involving the study of aging, neurologic injury and neuroinflammation.Publish high-impact manuscripts in peer reviewed journals.Provide academic leadership and service to the Department, School, University and profession.
- Ability to design and conduct rigorous experimentsStrong written and oral communication skillsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institutionAbility to lead and supervise others to achieve high productivity
- PhD in Neuroscience, Toxicology, Pharmacology, or a related degreeAccomplishments and publications in the areas of aging, neurologic injury and/or neurodegeneration.
