The Systems Administrator III, is responsible for providing technical leadership for systems administration projects or services. Routinely provides technical oversight for the application of and compliance with technical standards. They may coordinate the technical activities of a systems administration support team and complete reports and summaries for management and/or users including project status reports, problem reports, and progress summaries. The primary tool for this role will be Tableau and the selected candidate will lead the development of data dashboards and data cleaning efforts. This role serves the administrative office for the College of Education and Human Development to assist all administrative staff to optimize their time using Tableau and to facilitate their use of data.
This position will report directly to the Dean and supports the entire Administrative staff and Faculty. This position is instrumental in deploying data dashboards that represent the impact of the COEHD, the departments, and related operations. The selected individual will meet with and support the Admins as well as Departmental faculty on a regular basis to ensure deployed solutions are working. There will be frequent and seamless opportunities for feedback and planning. An extensive knowledge of database structures and the format with which to arrange periodic importing of information is a must. There are several data systems used by the University where standardizing the structure and resulting data will be needed and should be automated. This resource will coordinate with the IT department to vet system tools, assist in automated reporting from embedded software systems like Blackboard, Banner and Cognos.
This is a grant-funded position. Grant funded positions are time-limited and are contingent upon sufficient grant funding.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Serve as a data analysis expert with responsibility for developing standards and college-wide best practices and for engineering complex, largescale data display solutions to address highly complex and cross-organizational issues. Design, code, test, debug and document programs using standard development practices.
Maintain a broad knowledge of other technology engineering disciplines and collaborate with other key experts to ensure we are making the right data analytic decisions.
Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions.
Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommend innovations that enhance operations and/or provide a competitive advantage to the organization.
Provides expert counsel to leadership and advise and mentor others with the goal of knowledge transfer.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Dean of the College.
Required Education and Experience:
Five years of Hands-on Tableau experience building complex visualizations
Experience with Agile project methodologies
Ability to work as an independent member of a small and highly interdependent team
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Good analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to be flexible and adjust plans quickly to meet changing business needs
Ability to grasp complex business issues quickly, recommend solutions, and drive for resolutions
