The UNT System Business Service Center (BSC) is home to several of the university system’s shared and central services, including the Controllership. The BSC service groups provide all accounting, reporting, purchasing and business-service focused operations for all of the University of North Texas System component institutions. Areas of responsibility for these shared and central services include Payroll, Financial Accounting & Reporting, Accounts Payable, and Procurement, among others. The University of North Texas System is comprised of: the University of North Texas (located in Denton), the University of North Texas Health Science Center (in Fort Worth), the University of North Texas at Dallas, and the University of North Texas System (downtown Dallas).
This position is located at the Business Service Center at Woodhill Square, just south of our flagship campus in Denton.Position Overview:
Under the general direction of the Time & Labor Manager, the Time & Attendance Analyst plays a key role in establishing and maintaining strategic partnership between business needs and technology delivery in a fast-paced system environment. The Analyst will work closely with business partners (GL, Tax, Benefits, HR, and Production), UNT Denton, HSC, and UNT Dallas to resolve issues, determine requirements, and develop functional design based on the analysis of the business needs and objectives. Collaborate effectively with developers to ensure requirements and functional designs are translated accurately into working technical designs.Minimum Qualifications:
2 -3 years’ Time & Attendance analysis experience, preferable in a payroll/HRIS and Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or information technology or equivalent experience; including experience with larger time & attendance populations (5,000+ employees)Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience extracting data for analysis
Using code to pull data for interpretation and system analysis
Experience running reports from database
Skills in analyzing problems, situations, practices, or procedures to: identify and define a problem, formulate a solution, and prepare the necessary actions to follow through
Skill to assign priorities in order to complete work in a timely manner where there are: changes in workload, pressures of deadlines, heavy workload, changes in assignments
Skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff members, departments, and outside agencies
Possess strong mathematical, statistical, and logical skills
Strong accuracy and attention to detail
Skill in the use of Windows, Microsoft Word, & Excel software
Ability to remain calm and courteous in the face of upset employees while dealing with their problems/concerns
Knowledge and experience in a computerized payroll operation
Experience working in higher education

Data, Business, & System Analysis:
•Responsible for evaluating reported issues by business users to provide functional support, break fix analysis, and issue resolution related to time management, system access, and training within PeopleSoft.
•Work closely with business partners to elicit business requirements, document analysis, manage requirements sessions, document business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, and task and workflow analysis. Identify business processes and make recommendations. Participate in drafting campuses communications and instructions guides.
•Use Excel and/or SQL to evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, breakdown high-level information into details, and abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding.
•Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver artifacts such as Business Requirements Document, Use Cases, and Knowledge Base information.
•Collaborate with technical team members to translate business requirements and functional designs into working technical designs.
•Test plans/scripts/objectives and run tests to confirm specification compliance and system validation for releases, enhancements, and modifications. Ensure tests are completed within application release parameters.
•Troubleshoot Time Reporting System (TRS) errors.
•Streamlines existing data collection and reporting.
•Generates semi-complex to complex queries and analysis of data using PeopleSoft and Excel.
•Assist with developing and implementing training material for the campuses across the UNT system. Assist with providing regular training to the end campus users.
•Develop user guides for the employees, supervisors, and timekeepers.
•Update and or change training material based on feedback from campuses stakeholders.
Special Projects, Other Duties as Assigned:
- Assists in the implementation of various systems and process improvements.
- Assist with a variety of special projects to improve and/or streamline unit operations.
