Department Summary:

The VPAA Office of Curricular Innovation and Academic partnerships (CIAP) supports faculty and students through partnerships and collaborations internal to UNT and externally within the community. Emphasis is place on the development and implementation of high-impact educational practices (Kuh, 2001). Additional current initiatives include textbook affordability and accessibility and learning analytics. Career Connect is a major initiative of CIAP that enhances, assesses, and showcases UNT students’ marketable skills by engaging them in high-impact, experiential learning, reflection, and ePortfolio activities that are provided through UNT courses and activities. Connect is implementing UNT’s digital learning and employment record and is also responsible for the UNT ePortfolio system.

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for providing support to faculty innovators in the development and delivery of transformative learning experiences. This position works closely with faculty to promote and accelerate the use of evidence-based pedagogies, next generation learning environments, and principles of effective design.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in an academic discipline and at least four years experience consulting with college or university faculty about engaging students in learning experiences that incorporate authentic scholarly and professional learning activities or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong working knowledge of learning and instructional design theories and practice as they apply to course development at the college level.
• Demonstrated ability to support the effective use of online and face-to-face instructional materials and current technologies for a variety of learning tasks, student learning needs, and learning environments.
• Thorough knowledge of accessibility and copyright issues that apply to all modes of instructional delivery.
• Commitment to service, respectful engagement, and continuous improvement.
• Interpersonal skills that promote team building, collaboration, and a culture that principally understands and measures effectiveness in terms of others’ successes.
• Experience mentoring colleagues and students, advising and collaborating with peers and co-workers to provide structured feedback and advice to enhance their professional development and growth.
• Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
• Sensitivity to the demands and dynamics of teaching and learning at a major research university.

Monitors important developments and research regarding experiential learning. Conducts original research and provide instruction related to excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.

Participates in ongoing curricular innovation efforts including supporting affordability initiatives and curriculum redesign, improvement, delivery, and evaluation of instructional support.

o:

Develops and leads specialized programs for on-demand and cohort-based instructional improvement.
