Advertised Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Supervisor will provide leadership, support, and supervision of daytime housekeeping staff, in addition to being responsible for all maintenance and repairs in areas of operation in the Center for Health and Well-Being and the Thomson Building. The Facilities Supervisor will inspect each facility periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance needs. Prepares weekly maintenance and housekeeping schedules and allocates work as necessary. Plans and conducts periodic inspections and schedules preventive maintenance of facilities and equipment. The Facilities Supervisor manages and assists in the completion of the day-to-day activities involving maintenance of the buildings/facilities, equipment and machinery, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, painting, locksmith needs and overall facility appearance. Helps develop facilities maintenance policies and procedures. Monitors procedures and equipment to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Contributes to the development of maintenance budget and ensures compliance. Monitors inventory of materials and equipment. Participates in coordination of projects (i.e. renovations). Ensures adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations. Participates in Quality Assurance initiatives. Serves on University Health Services committees as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions):

High school diploma and 4 years related experience. Valid SC Driver’s License required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Skill in the use of various trade tools. Skill in making general repairs and adjustments to equipment used in building and maintenance work. Ability to perform manual labor. Ability to work on a ladder. Ability to work independently in a healthcare environment subject to frequent changing priorities. Willing to work around patient and provider schedules. Ability to understand and apply University and Departmental policies and procedures. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to use judgment and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision.
