Summary of Duties:

The Fiscal Specialist 1 provides fiscal, administrative, and general office support duties for the School of Molecular Biosciences (SMB), including independently planning, organizing, and prioritizing work, providing services to faculty, staff, students, and visitors of SMB. Duties include purchasing, domestic & international travel planning, budget reconciliation, posting, fiscal tracking and reconciliation including purchasing card and CTA card transactions, administrative support for faculty seminar events and faculty reviews, processing mail, shipping and receiving, answering main phone line, greeting guests, and other operational and administrative support. This position works with a variety of departments and must effectively interact with all SMB personnel (students, faculty, lab coordinators, office staff, etc.).


Required Qualifications:

Three years of fiscal record-keeping experience; OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience working efficiently and accurately with numbers.

  • Experience working with computers and computer software, especially spreadsheets and databases.

  • Demonstrated organization skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of WSU policies and procedures and Administrative Information System.

  • Knowledge of Workday software, Microsoft Office Suite, and Business Objects.

  • Professional working experience in a higher education environment.
