Under the direction of the Director, the Apprenticeship Services Coordinator provides hands-on leadership and is responsible for creating a plan to develop, grow and implement the new apprenticeship program college-wide and in the community. The position is responsible for the overall operation, training and management of the program and its participants, and supports the campaign to cultivate the model both internally and externally. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

    Develops and manages the apprenticeship program which is focused on Career and Technical Education (CTE)Manages operational processes related to organizational systems including logistical support, course development, delivery, evaluations, process management and cost managementActs as the primary liaison between MDC, FLDOE, and USDOL, and develops and maintains relationships with industry partners Promotes and coordinates apprenticeship training in accordance with predetermined standards by the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) and the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL). Collaborates with multiple campuses to promote campus events and provides optimal program exposure to the objectives of the program to all constituents of the College and relevant outside stakeholders Notifies FLDOE of any apprentice actions including registrations, completions, reinstatements, cancellations, and repeat periods in compliance with District policies and applicable state and federal regulations related to apprenticeshipsMaintains accurate records on apprentice placements, participating employer agreements and produces progress reports to recommend actions as neededWorks with Workforce Readiness Career Advisors and coordinates assessments to determine the apprentice’s progress Conducts research on the needs of local industry for apprenticeship programsEvaluates the model regularly and makes recommendations for improvement as deemed necessary Works with administration to develop Related Technical Instruction (RTI) curriculum as needed and ensures instructors meet the necessary requirements
  • Collaborates in the development of the MDC WORKS website and the apprenticeship model manual for distribution
  • Actively pursues and develops grant opportunitiesServes on campus and college-wide committeesPerforms other duties as assigned

  • Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of directly related experience; or a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related field and seven (7) years of directly related experience
  • All Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures.Knowledge of legislation and regulations with respect to the apprenticeship programs, accreditation policy and programs, and a working knowledge of postsecondary education Advanced knowledge of the apprenticeship model of training Advanced knowledge of trades, clients and cultural diversity, and a working knowledge of trends in the industry Solid organizational, interpersonal and communication skills Well developed conflict resolution, analytical and record keeping and administrative skills Proficiency in Microsoft software applications and familiarity with student information systemsKnowledge of social media platforms and innovative technologiesAbility to work independently and meet deadlines.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with academic departments, faculty, staff, students, and the local community.Effective communication skills both orally and in writing.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situationsAbility to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manualsAbility to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formAbility to establish and maintain effective public relationsAbility to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
