Trio-Student Support Services is a federally grant funded program focused on providing additional services to students from underrepresented populations such as: low income, first-generation college student, academically under prepared, disabled and other qualifications that directly impact the successful completion of higher education at significant rates within these special populations.
The Student Success Coaches will be responsible for working closely with the project director in carrying out the activities of the program and facilitating the success of program participants.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
Meet individually with program students weekly for coaching sessions.
Provide assessment data to program director as needed.
Administer and interpret non-cognitive assessment tools.
Work with students to develop individualized pathways to success.
Assist in the selection and certification of program applicants.
Conduct workshops and presentations for student participants.
Participate in all program and college related activities as requested by the program director.
Experience working with special populations in higher education, community college experience preferred.
Formal training and or work experience in promoting persistence and graduation rates for at-risk college students.
Knowledge of barriers to post-secondary education faced by low income and first-generation students and students with disabilities.
Knowledge and experience in academic and non-cognitive strategies to support student success of at-risk populations.
Knowledge of career and transfer advising techniques as well as techniques for individual coaching.
Ability to contribute to the completion of annual performance reports.
Excellent written and public speaking skills.
Demonstrate knowledge of professional standards in higher education.
Preference will be given to individuals who have succeeded in overcoming the circumstances like those of
the target population.
Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of two years of experience in college counseling or working with college students in similar projects.
