Research Assistant, Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center - Georgetown University Medical Center

Georgetown's Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) is committed to recruiting, educating, and developing the careers of the next generation of outstanding basic and clinical cancer researchers who will continue the fight against cancer. Its Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) Program conducts innovative and impactful population sciences research across the translational continuum, from discovery to intervention to policy, to help alleviate the burden of cancer.

The Research Assistant is a member of CPC's Lung Screening, Tobacco, and Health team, which is conducting the research project entitled ‘Integrating Smoking Cessation within Lung Cancer Screening Programs, the American Lung Association-funded project titled ‘Testing Methods of Increasing Lung Cancer Screening Among Quitline Callers, and the NCI-funded project entitled “A Multilevel intervention” to address health disparities in lung cancer screening.

Reporting to the Principal Investigators, the Research Assistant has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Supports management of IRB protocols and submission of amendments and annual reports
  • Assists with project management for a funded study, including setting up Redcap forms, assisting with intervention development, project management and organizational activities; assisting with IRB submissions and amendments, and interviewing research participants.
  • Conducts telephone interviews with research participants undergoing lung cancer screening and being educated about lung cancer screening.
  • Mails materials and payments to research participants.
  • Supervises 1 undergraduate research assistant who will conduct follow up interviews for the longitudinal research studies.

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in psychology, public health, or another social science
  • Experience working on behavioral tobacco-related research or clinical projects
  • Data management and data analysis experience
