Visiting Assistant Professor & Dissertation Chair Graduate and Professional Studies

St. Edward's University of Austin, Texas invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor & Dissertation Chair Graduate and Professional Studies. The first two Ed.D. Doctoral Cohorts are one year from dissertation defense/submission. By the fall of 2021, the university will have 60 doctoral students who need dissertation chairs. This position will. teach one course in the Ed.D. program during the fall and spring semesters, manage up to 18 dissertation committees, and mentor doctoral students.

Essential Responsibilities Include:

• Provide scholarly oversight to doctoral dissertation candidates in accordance to Edward's University, DLHE required dissertation processes and procedures
• Advise up to 18 doctoral candidates in the dissertation phase using the Canvas Dissertation Lab on a weekly
• Teach 1 course per semester in the doctoral program during the fall and spring semester

For consideration:

Required

• Earned terminal degree in a field associated with the doctoral programs such as leadership, higher education, or related
• Experience teaching graduate level research method courses (qualitative or quantitative) coursework with excellent teaching/chairing dissertations references
• Evidence of professional research and/or scholarly endeavours and expertise in the
• Ability to use or learn how to use appropriate technology, including video conferencing and learning management systems such as
• Strong professional disposition and commitment to serving students throughout a multi-year dissertation course sequence in a fully-online doctoral

Preferred

• Demonstrate proven teaching experience
• Remote teaching experience
• Experience as a dissertation committee member and chair
• Evidence of managing multiple dissertation candidates and committees remotely a
• Successful completion of an employment and criminal history background check is required.
